Antivirus, firewall, spam filter, ad-blocker, anti-phishing, parental controls, encryption, backup - is there anything this suite can't do?
Kaspersky PURE 2 is the latest version of Kaspersky's supercharged internet security suite, a comprehensive toolkit that includes just about every security feature you could ever want.
A powerful antivirus engine delivers strong real-time protection, for instance, monitoring your downloads, email attachments, instant messaging traffic, the files you access, and more, to detect and block all incoming threats.
An excellent firewall stops network attacks and prevents spyware from phoning home, while keeping annoying pop-up alerts to a minimum.
Phishing protection helps to protect you from online scams, while another module scans all scripts processed in Internet Explorer, blocking anything dangerous from running.
And there's a spam filter that integrates directly with Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird or The Bat!, and directly filters POP3, SMTP and IMAP traffic to work with everything else.
You also get a Vulnerability Scanner, that detects and highlights poorly chosen Windows and IE settings, as well as applications that are missing security updates.
A Sandbox allows you to run some applications in an isolated environment. Run your browser this way, for instance, and even if you run into malware it won't be able to infect the rest of your PC.
There's also a password manager, which will create secure passwords and store them safely for you.
The Data Encryption tool allows you to store confidential data in encrypted containers. Even if someone has access to your PC, they won't be able to open a container unless they have the password.
Elsewhere, you'll find a virtual keyboard to help you bypass keyloggers; a data shredder securely wipes personal files so they can't be recovered; a tuneup tool optimises your IE settings for safer web use; and the list goes on, and on, and on.
